Grace Covenant Church Member Covenant
- As members of Grace Covenant Church, we affirm this covenant with one another by God’s grace, for our good, and ultimately for God’s glory. Having been brought by divine grace to repent and believe in the Lord Jesus Christ and to surrender our lives to Him, and having been baptized as Christians in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, we covenant together to glorify God by making disciples of all nations.
- We will submit to the authority of the Scriptures as the final word on all matters of life and doctrine. (2 Tim. 3:14-17)
- We will work and pray for the unity of the Holy Spirit in the bond of peace with one another. (Eph. 4:1-3)
- We will, with God’s help, live carefully in the world, denying ungodliness and worldly desires. Our symbolic burial and resurrection in baptism testifies to this special obligation to live a new and holy life. (Rom. 6:1-14; 1 Thess. 4:1; Titus 2:12)
- We will be devoted to one another in brotherly love. With humility and gentleness we will patiently bear with each other, forgiving, encouraging and building one another up, exercising watchfulness over each other and admonishing one another when necessary. (Luke 17:3; Col. 3:13; 1 Thess. 5:11; 1 Pet. 1:22)
- We will spur one another on to love and good deeds. We will meet with one another consistently, pray for one another regularly, and serve one another selflessly. We will share each other’s joys and bear each other’s burdens. (Col. 4:2; Heb. 10:23-25; Rom. 12:15)
- We will use our words to build up one another and glorify God rather than speaking lies, deceit, slander, or gossip. (Eph. 4:29-31)
- We will defend and maintain a Christ-exalting ministry in this church by supporting and upholding the preaching of the Word of God, the right administration of believer’s baptism and the Lord’s Supper, and when necessary, the exercise of church discipline. (Matt. 18:15-20; Acts 2:38; 1 Cor. 5:9-13, 11:26; 2 Tim. 4:2)
- We will bring up our children and youth in the training and instruction of the Lord, and by a pure and loving example to seek the salvation of our family and friends. (Deut. 6:4-9; Eph. 6:4; 1 Pet. 3:1)
- We will proclaim the gospel in our homes, neighborhoods, and to the ends of the earth in whatever way the Lord enables us. (Matt. 28:18-20; 2 Cor. 5:16-21)
- We will contribute cheerfully to the expenses of the church, the needs of our neighbors, and the spread of the gospel around the world. (Matt. 28:19; Luke 12:33; 2 Cor 9:7)
- We will submit to the leadership of elders who have been entrusted by God to serve and care for this body by teaching the Word of Christ to us and modeling the character of Christ before us, and we will affirm deacons as leading servants in the church. (Eph. 4:11-12; 1 Tim. 3:1-10)
- If we leave this congregation, we will join another gospel-preaching church as soon as possible where we can carry out the spirit of this covenant and the principles of God’s Word. (Heb. 10:23-25)
- May the grace of the Lord Jesus Christ, and the love of God, and the fellowship of the Holy Spirit be with us all. Amen. (2 Cor. 13:14)
